We often hear of staff raising monies for resident comfort funds. What does this tell us about the culture of care and quality of life that we expect to see?

So we do this. We are a charity and private home. while we have good budgets in place this just boosts our activities budget to do special things with residents.
We do use our summer fair as a relationship building exercise, improve links to the community and a bit of an open doors event. Because we are raising funds with doing a tombola, raffle, cakes etc we want to be clear what that money is going to – straight to improving our residents wellbeing, not to line pockets or pay for food or whatever.
its really difficult to get the message right! residents are paying for everything in the home including activities so why should be raise funds. but raising funds and not saying what its for is a bit suspect!
